We left for vacation last Friday night. We headed up to the lake to pack up some last minute supplies and the kayaks. It also put us almost an hour closer to Bar Harbor. We got up bright and early on Saturday (thanks to Luke) and we on the road by 8. We only had to stop 2x - once for bathroom breaks, diaper change and gas, and another stop at the post office so rick could mail some stuff for work. Luke was GREAT in the car and made it the 3 hours no problem to Bangor where we stopped for lunch. We ate at the Seadog Brewing company, and it was a nice break from the car. After lunch, it was back in the car for the final hour of the trip.
When we arrived at the campground, Rick went in to check in. It was taking him a looong time so I started to get a little nervous. When he came out, he tld me we never paid our deposit and we didn't have a reservation. Great! They had a campsite for us for 1 night but then nothing after that. Maybe they would get a cancellation tonight, so they told us to check back in the
We headed to our temporary home and to get set up. Chris was already at his site and mostly set up. Dee and John were also in Acadia, so after they finished sailing they headed over for dinner and a sunset paddle. After we ate, we headed down to the water, which was low tide..... sooooo
everyone got a little muddy :) Those are Dee's feet. Rick towed my boat over to the dock so Luke and I didn't have to go through the mud.
Here is Luke and I kayaking in Somes Sound. Luke likes to wave
It was a pretty night out
Here is Dee
The next morning we had to pack everything up to move. We went up to the campground office and there were no cancellations so we had to go to a different campground on the island.
This was our site for the first night
Oh no! we are homeless and have to move!
After getting set up at our new campground (Hadley's point campground) we went for a hike up Flying mountain.
Luke loved riding in the carrier and hiking with Dada
Here he is at the top of the mountain.

On the way back down you go by this cove that was really pretty
Next we went into town to get some ice cream.
Luke had a lot of fun chasing the birds.
On Monday we got up and did a quick hike up Bar island which over looks Bar Harbor. It was foggy that morning, so there was no view. When we got back down the fog had lifted. We briefly debated going back but decided to save it for another day
On Monday afternoon our other friend Dan arrived and on tuesday the 3 guys went kayaking for a little bit. Luke and I played on the beach near our campround.
On Wednesday, the guys went kayaking again out to some islands off the coast. Luke isn';t ready for open ocean kayaking, so we went to the playground. Luke had a lot of fun!
He loved going down the slide headfirst!
After working up an appetite on the playground, we went to the park in downtown overlooking the water for a picnic.
After we picked up Rick at the boat launch, we headed back and we saw some huge sail boats in the sound.
This one is The Alexandria... see how small the kayakers look?
On Wednesday morning we went on a hike up Norumbega Mountain and it was really nice out. Here we are at the top
It was really hot out and Luke was tired on the way down, i think Rick was too.
Here we are on the ocean
thursday morning we went to sunrise.
The sunrise was beautiful!
Here are the Islands that the boys kayaked to earlier in the week

We went mini golfing and Luke loved it! He and Rick came in last place but he didn't care!
Here is our trailer that we thought was pretty big. It looks tiny compared to all the huge motor homes at our new campground
Luke took advantage of any car time to catch some zzz's
Here is sunset on Thursday night. Luke played at the beach and got into the water with his clothes on
Here are the guys getting everything ready for dinner and a fire on the beach!
The sun is setting!
Luke had a lot of fun playing
And he got REALLY dirty!

The next day we drove up Cadillac mountain during the day and ate lunch up there. Luke looks like he in on a cliff but really he is not, I promise!
